Predictors for Alzheimer's Patients Note: An Official Proposal has not been Submitted to NACC. Lead Investigator: Kimberley Shore Institution : Albizu University E-Mail : ks0229097@sunmail.albizu.edu Proposal ID : 1705 Proposal Description: Examining the national dataset for predictor variables that may lead to Alzheimer's. We aim to improve services provided to Alzheimer's patients in the future. We want to compare the longitudinal verbal fluency performance of cognitively normal versus cognitively impaired older adult Hispanic/Latinos. We would like to control for age, education, gender, and handedness of participants. Specifically, we want to look at the verbal fluency test of Hispanic/Latino older adults with normal cognition and those diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment, Alzheimer's diseases, frontotemporal dementia, and Lewy body dementia to determine the degree to which verbal fluency is impaired in each of these groups over time. We plan to conduct a statistical analysis (possibly a repeated measures ANOVA) to compare these groups, using the type of dementia as the independent variable and the verbal fluency scores as the dependent variable.
